This Privacy Policy defines how Wappi and its partners collect, use, process and disclose your Personal Data through the use of Wappi’s mobile applications and websites (respectively “Apps” and “Websites”), as well as products, features and other services globally, operated by Wappi (collectively, “Services”).
The confidentiality of your personal data is extremely important to us. That's why we have put in place a data protection policy to ensure the security of the information you provide to us over the Internet, when you use the Wappi Apps, websites and our Services.
This Privacy Policy applies to our consumers, agents, vendors, suppliers, partners (such as driver, delivery, and merchant partners), contractors and service providers (collectively “you”, “your” or “yours”).
By accessing Wappi websites or using the mobile applications and services, you agree that your personal data will be collected and processed based solely on the applicable data protection regulations.
“Personal Data” is any information that relates to an identified or identifiable living individual. Different pieces of information, which collected together can lead to the identification of a particular person, also constitute personal data. This includes but is not limited to your name, nationality, telephone number, bank and credit card details, personal interests, email address, your image, government-issued identification numbers, biometric data, race, date of birth, marital status, religion, health information, vehicle and insurance information, employment information and financial information.

3- Our commitment
We carry out our activities in compliance with the laws in force concerning the protection of your privacy and your personal data. The purpose of the policy presented below is to inform you about the way in which Wappi collects, processes, shares and stores your personal data. Please note that our policy applies to all Wappi products and services.
4- Personal data we collect
We collect different types of information about you, if applicable data protection laws allow us to do so:
Data you provide to us when you:
· Complete a user profile or registration forms (Name, contact information and other identification information when needed);
· Provide information to assess your eligibility to provide services as a Wappi driver or partner (Driving license, vehicle information and background checks);
· Interact with our social media pages (Social media account ID, profile photo and any other publicly available data);
· Participate in events organised by us (Pictures, audio or videos which may include images of yourself);
· Verify your identity through various means (Social media logins, submission of selfie images or independently verified payment card information);
· Fill up demographic information in surveys (Age, gender, and other information you may volunteer such as your marital status, occupation and income information)
· Take a ride with in-vehicle audio and/or video recording features.
Data created when you use, our Websites, Apps and Services:
· Your location information;
· Feedback, ratings and compliments;
· Transaction information (such as payment method);
· Information about how you interacted with our Apps, Website or Services (such as features used and content viewed);
· Device information (such as hardware model and serial number, IP addresses), file and app names and versions, GPS location, IMEI number, and advertising identifiers or any information that may indicate device or app modification);
· personal data you enter in messages when you use our in-app communication features;
· personal data that may be captured through your interaction with us, our agents, in-vehicle audio and/or video recording during a ride (such as your image or voice or both, and its related metadata).
Data from other sources:
· Referral programmes,
· Our business partners (fleet partners, payment providers, ride-hailing partners and transport partners),
· Insurance and financial providers,
· Financial services providers,
· Publicly available or governmental sources of data,
· When our users add you as an emergency contact,
· When our users add you as a recipient or beneficiary of any use of our Services,
· Marketing services providers or partners.
Sensitive personal data:
Some of the personal data we collect may be of a sensitive nature. This may include national identity information, background information (including financial and criminal records, where permitted by law), health, disability, marital status and biometric data, as applicable. We collect sensitive personal data only with your consent and/or in strict compliance with applicable laws. In the event that you are required to provide us with documents or information for whatever reason that may contain such sensitive personal data (which is not necessary for that specific purpose), you agree to delete such sensitive personal data before providing such documents or information to us.
When you provide personal data of other individuals to us:
In some situations, you may provide us with personal data of other people (such as your partner, family members or friends). For example, you can add them as an emergency contact, when using in-app chat, or when adding them as recipients or beneficiaries of any use of our Services. If you provide us with their personal data, you represent and warrant that you have obtained their consent for their personal data to be collected, used and disclosed as set out in this Privacy Policy.
Personal data of minors:
As a parent or legal guardian, please do not allow minors under your care to submit personal data to Wappi. In the event that a minor's personal data is disclosed to Wappi, you hereby consent to the processing of the minor's personal data and agree to be bound by this privacy policy and to take responsibility for their actions.
Unless otherwise specified, all data requested by Wappi for the creation of an account are mandatory and their absence may make it impossible for Wappi to provide certain Services.
The provision of your personal data is not required if you only wish to visit our websites. You can refuse to install tracers on your device, by setting your preferences through the cookie management tool made available to you on the website.
5- Non-personal data collected automatically
When you access our websites, Apps and Services, we can automatically collect (meaning without any prior registration) non-personal data (such as the Internet browser and the operating system you use, the domain name of the website from which you accessed ours, the number of visits, the average duration of your visit on our website, and the pages you have visited). We may use these data to evaluate the attractiveness of our website and improve its performance or contents.

We may display other content that links to third party websites. We cannot control or be held responsible for third parties’ privacy practices and content. If you click on a content that links to third party website, please read their privacy policies to find out how they collect and process your personal data.
8- Child protection
Wappi will not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 years or under the applicable age limit without first insisting that they obtain the consent of their parents, when applicable laws require it. The definition of "child" depends on applicable laws as well as national and regional cultural habits.
9- How we use your personal data
The data collected through our websites, Apps and Services (compulsory or not) are generally used to provide you with a fun and personalized user experience, analyze our traffic, but also to improve the quality of our products and Services as described below:
Providing services and features:
· Access and use of the websites, Apps and Services,
· Create, administer and update your account,
· Verification, identification and authentication of data transmitted by the user,
· Process, manage or verify your eligibility or application for Services, promotions, rewards and subscriptions with Wappi,
· Organisation of the Terms of Use of payment services,
· Track the progress of your trip and detect abnormal trip variations,
· Provide you with a smooth experience, like auto-filling your registration information,
· Management of operation and optimisation of the websites, Apps and Services,
· Invitation to participate in our surveys and studies,
· Enable our partners to manage and allocate fleet resources; and fulfil the services to you,
· Suggestion to the user of the possibility to communicate with other users of the websites, Apps and Services,
· Implementation of user support,
· Service customisation by displaying ads based on the user's browsing history, and preferences,
· Prevention and detection of fraud (malicious software or malware) and security incident management,
· Management of potential disputes with users,
· Delivery of commercial and advertising information based on the user's preferences,
· Testing new features.
Safety and security:
We use your data to ensure the safety and security of our Services and all users. This includes:
· Screening driver before enabling their use of our Services,
· Identifying unsafe driving behaviour such as speeding, harsh braking and acceleration, and providing personalised feedback to driver partners,
· Verifying your identity when you log in to Wappi,
· Verifying user’s accounts and activities, to ensure security inside and outside our Services,
· Using device, location, profile, usage and other Personal Data to prevent, detect and combat fraud or unsafe activities,
· Sharing drivers and passengers location data, drivers details when "SOS Panic" button is activated,
· Monitoring compliance with our terms and conditions and policies.
User support
We may use Personal Data to resolve user support issues. For example:
Research and development and security
We may use the Personal Data we collect for testing, research, analysis and product development. This allows us to understand and analyse your needs and preferences, protect your Personal Data, improve and enhance the safety and security of our Services, develop new features, products and services, and facilitate development of insurance and finance solutions.
Legal purposes
We may use the Personal Data we collect for legal purposes, such as to investigate and resolve claims or disputes, detect/prevent/prosecute crime, or as allowed or required by applicable law.
We may also use your Personal Data when we are required, advised, recommended, expected or requested to do so by our legal advisors or any local or foreign legal, regulatory, governmental or other authority.
For example, we may use your Personal Data to:
Marketing and promotions
We may use your Personal Data to send you marketing communications relating to customised products or services (that may be of interest or relevance based on your profile), or Wappi’s partners’, sponsors’ and advertisers’ products, services, events or promotions.
We may communicate such marketing to you by various means, where applicable (including by SMS, chat applications (e.g. WhatsApp, Viber, Telegram)), push notification, call, and by email).
If you wish to unsubscribe to the receiving of such marketing communications, please click on the unsubscribe link in the relevant email or message. Alternatively, you may also update your preferences in our Apps settings. Please note that while you may opt out of marketing or promotion communications, Wappi may still send you service-related messages (such as information on your transactions, rewards, etc.).
User Published Content
If you publish content (such as a review or comment) on Wappi’s platform, it may be shown publicly along with your personal data (such as profile name, uploaded photo(s)), and other information you choose to include in your content. For more information, see our Review Guidelines
As part of the processing of your data, they may be transferred to any other place where the parties involved in this processing are located, including to a country other than your own.
We do not market your personal data to third parties in any way
We do not use your data for other purposes, and we are committed to complying with the current regulations applicable to the processing of personal data and, in particular, the regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, applicable from 25 May 2018 (hereinafter, “the European Data Protection Regulation” or GDPR).
10- Limitations on the use of your personal data
Wappi will only collect, use or disclose the personal data you have provided online for the purposes indicated to you, unless such disclosure:
As part of your subscription management, your data can be transmitted to the companies responsible for managing, executing and processing payment transactions.
You are informed that in this case, our partners' privacy policies then govern their use of the data we provide to them with your consent or that they collect directly from you.
If Wappi is involved in a merger, acquisition, disposal of assets or legal redress procedure, we may be required to assign or share all or part of our assets, including personal data. In this case, users would be informed, before the personal data are transferred to a third party.
Wappi may also transfer your personal data to Facebook, Twitter, Google..., if you consent to the association of your Wappi account with your social media accounts at the time of registration or if you set up your Wappi account for this purpose.
11- Security and privacy
In order to protect your personal data from accidental or illegal destruction, loss or alteration, and unauthorized consultation or disclosure, Wappi uses technical, organisational, software and physical digital security measures. However, it should be noted that the Internet is not a completely secure environment and Wappi cannot guarantee the security of transmitting or storing information over the Internet.
12- Data retention
Personal data are processed and retained for as long as required for the purpose for which they were collected.
Beyond this period, these data will be anonymised and stored exclusively for statistical purposes and will not give rise to any exploitation of any kind. Personal data of all persons who have been inactive for 3 years will be anonymised and preserved for their statistical value. Therefore, the right of access, the right to erasure, the right to rectification and the right to data portability cannot be applied after the retention period has expired.
13- Implementing user rights
In accordance with the regulations applicable to personal data, users have the following rights, which they can exercise by making a request to privacy@wappi.fr or the following postal address: Wappi, PO Box 33160 Yaounde, Cameroon.
14- How "Do Not Track" requests are handled
Wappi does not support "Do Not track" requests. Refer to the Privacy Policy of third party services to determine whether or not they accept "Do Not Track" requests.
15- Changes to our Privacy Policy
Wappi reserves the right to make changes to this Privacy Policy, in order to maintain compliance with personal data protection laws and regulations, and guarantees that these revisions will in no way, lead to any reduction in your rights.
